Our linen hire team shares our favourite wedding venues in Melbourne

‘Tis the season… to say “I do”! 

Christmas has come and gone, and now we’re rapidly approaching wedding season.

The most popular month for weddings each year is March, with 12% of all weddings taking place during the first month of autumn. (Equally as popular, too, is November.)

So we thought what better way to start the new year than with a compilation of some of our favourite wedding venues across Melbourne?

The Prince Deck

  • Location: St Kilda
  • Capacity: 30-120 seated, 50-500 cocktail

This versatile space located within The Prince Hotel can hold anywhere from 30 to 500 guests!

Whether it’s for a product launch, corporate event, or your special day, guests will be treated to breathtaking views across Port Phillip Bay from the outdoor terrace.

Executive chef Dan Hawkins will ensure your guests are treated to the best cuisine.

The Price Hotel is also home to Melbourne’s iconic music venue, Prince Bandroom.

The George Ballroom

  • Location: St Kilda
  • Capacity: 150 guests seated, 200 cocktail

This heritage listed space is truly breathtaking.

Ideally located on Fitzroy Street in St Kilda, the venue was restored in 2015 and is run and managed by catering company DAMM FINE FOOD Co.

The venue is also available for filming and photography.

Canvas House

  • Location: South Melbourne
  • Capacity: 200 seated, 300 cocktail

The whitewashed brick walls. The timber ceiling panels. The high ceilings. Beautiful polished concrete floor.

This is it – you’ve found the perfect blank canvas for your upcoming nuptials!

This versatile event space can hold up to 300 guests for a cocktail event and 200 seated.

And it’s waiting for you (or let’s be honest, your wedding stylist!) to customise it and meet your exact vision.

In addition to weddings, Canvas House also hosts private parties and corporate events.

You and your guests will enjoy impressive 180º views across Melbourne through floor-to-ceiling windows in a stylish New York loft inspired space.

Located in the heart of Southbank, it;s close to a number of churches and gardens, making it a convenient choice for a wedding reception. We’ll cheers to that!

This quirky space is actually a not-for-profit theatre and gallery that relies heavily on private donations to support artists and performers. 

While private events can be hosted, availability is extremely limited. However, if you’re flexible with your wedding date, fortyfivedownstairs is a perfectly unique choice! 

The venue is exclusively partnered with Ed Dixon Food Design to create customised menus for your Melbourne wedding.

Glasshaus

  • Location: Richmond and Cremorne
  • Capacity: 60 seated, 80 cocktail (Glasshaus Outside); 85 seated, 95 cocktail (Glasshaus Inside)

This truly unique venue offers two spaces: Glasshaus Inside (Cremorne) and Glasshaus Outside (Richmond).

No matter which you pick, you’ll be surrounded by fresh blooming florals and lush green.

Both locations are conveniently located close to Richmond station, and are just 500m from each other. Choose your own catering or Glasshaus can take care of it all for you!

It’s important to note that Glasshaus Outside is a daytime venue only, while Glasshaus Inside welcomes evening events.

Suitable for both wedding ceremonies and receptions, the space is located three floors above Smith Street, atop a former textile factory.

Plaza Ballroom

  • Location: Collins Street, CBD
  • Capacity: 150-450 guests

Situated inside the majestic Regent Theatre, the Plaza Ballroom, with its Rococo architecture, truly takes you back to a different time.

Enjoy greater versatility with a number of different layouts and table configurations that match your guest list size and requirements, such as a band or dancefloor.

Abbotsford Convent

  • Location: Abbotsford 
  • Capacity: 250 seated, 300 cocktail

This village located in the heart of Abbotsford (though you feel like you’ve been transported to the countryside!) offers a number of unique event spaces for your wedding day, including the Rosina courtyard and function room, heritage gardens, and the bluestone Good Shepherd Chapel.
