What are the wedding colours for 2021?

Of course, trends don’t always need to be followed, but if you’re looking for a starting point, these trending hues will help you explore what kinds of colour palettes you like (and importantly, don’t like so much) and may help inspire your theme.

In 2021, brides, particularly those who have rescheduled due to the pandemic, are gravitating towards brighter, lighter colours to boost the mood and evoke a true feeling of gratitude and celebration.

Darker hues, however, will certainly stick around as accent colours.

Blue

While blue has always been a traditional and much-loved wedding colour, this year, we’re expecting to see lighter shades combined with pops of darker hues including navy and denim.

The mood is lifted and the palette is lightened with the addition of white and pale blue florals including hydrangeas and sweet peas.

Pastels

Pick a few of your favourites shades or create a whimsical rainbow with on-trend pastels.

Pastels can be incorporated into your decor and flowers, but also into your wedding gear, too: brides may want a pop of subtle colour peeping out from under their dress with a killer pair of pastel heels, or you might like to steer your bridesmaids in the direction of pastel dresses.

To add even more dimension, remember that while bridesmaids dresses can be in different styles to best suit each person’s individual taste, they can also be different shades of your favourite hue or even different pastel colours altogether!

Burnt shades

These bold colours are typically likened to an autumn wedding, but can be utilised cleverly all year round.

Think bold orange and vivid reds teamed with deeper shades like terracotta and mulberry, lightened up with a touch of blush.

Neutrals

Neutrals certainly aren’t going anywhere.

This versatile palette lends itself to a huge variety of themes, whether you’re into boho chic, traditional, vintage, or garden.

Dried floral arrangements are also having their moment, with flowers like baby’s breath, hydrangeas, sea holly, bunny tails, eucalyptus, and preserved white roses adding texture to your bouquet or table decor, while retaining that neutral colour scheme.

Shades of grey

Petrol, gun metal, shades of grey, navy blue, and forest green – this colour palette is sophisticated, adaptable, and bang on trend.

While it may be akin to a moody, winter wedding, it can be lightened up with complementary paler shades, ensuring this colour theme can be used all year round.

What are the wedding colours of 2022?

We know, we know – 2021 has barely started, and yet we’re already looking to the next year!

However thanks to the shift of 2020 weddings moving to ‘21, 2022 is quickly filling up, too!

Though it’s still a little while away, emerging colour trends include warm, earthy tones, touches of metallic, and champagne shades.

As we’ve said in the past, trends don’t automatically switch on and off as years pass – they grow and evolve, and will stick around for a few years. At the end of the day, however, remember that this is your special day, and you can do whatever you want!

Follow the trends or go your own way: it’s totally up to you.

But if you need a little help, our linen stylists are ready to get their brains picked. Contact Table Art today and tell us when you’re wedding is, what you’re into (and importantly, what you’re not!) and any colours you love.

Other factors to consider that can impact your choice includes:

  • Your venue or setting
  • The season and weather
  • Your unique style
  • Your partner’s preferences

This information is a great starting point for us, and from there, we can help you envision colour palettes, themes, decor, and table settings. Contact Table Art now – we can’t wait to hear from you!
